Pure Handmade Haven was started because of a need to find a lip balm that would help without all the harsh chemicals. I used to use Carmex. It was my go to for lip balm since I was a kid. I have psoriasis and it is on my lips. I needed something to help with the cracks, peeling, and dryness I would feel on my lips all the time. Carmex helped with that.
Lip Balm
When I first decided to make my own lip balm I wanted to still feel the “burn” that you get with Carmex. For me that meant the lip balm was working to help calm my psoriasis. This is why I started with peppermint. So far this is still the only scent/flavor I sell. Others were not liked very much so I stuck with peppermint.
The other reason I stuck with peppermint is because I feel it is important to stay with the basics. Simple clean ingredients means not a ton of options. That being said, if there is a flavor/scent you would like reach out to me. I am happy to add more products if they pass the tests of customers.
I did mention that I made my lip balm to help with my psoriasis. It does not cure or heal psoriasis. All it does is make the symptoms less noticeable for my lips. Dry cracked lips are not pleasant. With my lip balm, my lips do not crack. They do not feel dry. They feel soft and moisturized all day long.
Bar Soap
As you can see in the picture at the top of this post. I make more than just lip balm. I also make bar soap. Right now I have two types. I make moisturizing bar soap and one that is more deep cleaning to help with things like acne. One of the causes of acne is clogged pores. This can be caused by dirt, oil, or any residue that gets on your skin. The deep cleaning bar is designed to help with that. It gives your skin the balance it needs by removing the excess oil while still leaving enough to keep your skin moisturized and washes the dirt away to keep your pores open and able to breathe. This does not stop acne. It just helps your skin breathe to hopefully cut back on how much acne you have on your skin. I use this bar on my face to help with my psoriasis as well. It will not cure my psoriasis but cuts back on the moisture on my face to help with the symptoms. If you have oily skin on your face or you need to dry your face out a bit, this would be the perfect bar for your face.
The other bar is more moisturizing. This bar was designed with my mom in mind. She is older and with age comes dry skin. She uses lotion all the time and wanted to find a way to not have to use lotion several times a day. This is a gentle cleansing bar with extra moisturizing oils to help sooth the skin. Now, mom still has to use lotion but not as often as before. This bar I use on my body. I do not have psoriasis on my body and I it makes me feel soft and moisturized all day long.
Right now all bar soaps are non scented. They are just natural oils and lye. I am currently testing fragrances to add to the line of current items. If you have any fragrances you would like to purchase, let me know. I would love to test out your favorite scent.
Other Products
I am also testing other products to add in the future. All products go through extensive testing before I am willing to sell them so they may take a while before you see them. I am currently working on deodorant and toothpaste. Though these may take a while before I am will to offer them to you. The recipes I have tried are not living up to my expectations of what I am willing to offer. I also have shampoo, conditioner, lotion, scrubs, and bath bombs on the list of product!
